Gas Grills – A Grill For The Whole Family

Gas Grills – A Grill For The Whole Family

GAS GRILLING is nothing new and is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to grill food.

Gas grilling is a safe and efficient way to grill and is for the individual or family who does a lot of burgers, hot dogs, and anything that is fast to cook.  However, gas grills are used for longer cooks as well, including tri-tip, chicken wings, and pork tenderloins among other proteins.

You won’t get that smoke flavor you are looking for with traditional smokers but you can do things such as placing a pellet tube or wood foil pack inside (my blog will cover this in the future).

My favorite gas grill has always been Weber. I grew up on Weber and recently replaced by 25 year old Weber Geneis I with the new Weber Genesis 330s (stainless steel). The nice thing about the 300 series or any 3-burner grill is you can set up zones.  A hot zone for searing and a warm zone to slowly bring your meat to temperature before the searing (reverse sear method).  While this grill is not cheap, it will last you decades if properly taken care of and covered as it sits outdoors.

One of the main functions of my Weber is my warming oven on large backyard cooks. Rather than using my oven inside the house and heating up the entire kitchen, this unit is one of the best outdoor warming ovens since you already have it for grilling.

You can use natural gas or propane. Natural gas is nice as it’s never ending and usually coming from the home off a pipe.  Propane is great if natural gas is not available at your home as you can find tanks at any Home Depot, gas station, supermarket, Ace Hardware and so many other places, you can always trade it your tank or get it refilled.

The nice thing about a gas grill is you don’t have to worry about charcoal, or wood, fire managment or adjusting temperatures if you are not into that level of grilling or smoking. It’s simple to turn on and turn off.

For people who love convenience and just want to “grill” without the immersion of the other methods, a gas grill will give you years of enjoyment without any complexity of other cooking methods.  For those of you who want to transition into smoking, learn your temperatures and  how to cook perfect proteins in a gas grill and then you’ll have already mastered 75% of what is required for mastering smoking meats on a wood smoker.   For those who want to get into that smoke flavor and really smoking meats, see my article on Pellet Smokers.
